Two places your phone system lives.
Cannon VoIP is a cloud phone system. The VoIP-HYBRID-1 adds a copy of it at your location, so a lost connection or an outage on either side doesn't stop your people from working.
Runs at your location
The appliance runs your phone system on site, kept in step with our cloud. Your desk phones, apps and web app use it first.
Keeps going if the cloud is unreachable
If your site loses its connection to our cloud, or our cloud were ever unavailable, the appliance keeps your phone system running. Only AI processing pauses.
Fails over the other way too
If an appliance goes down, desk phones, the apps and the web app switch to our cloud immediately, and the spare appliance is ready to take over.
Almost everything keeps working.
The only thing that pauses is AI processing: transcripts, call summaries, the AI receptionist, screening transcription and translation. They pick up again as soon as the connection is back.
- Calls between extensions
- Outside calls and 911
- Desk phones, mobile and desktop apps, and the web app
- Voicemail
- Paging, intercom and bells
- Team chat and video meetings
- Ring groups, queues and phone menus
- The built-in CRM and appointments
2,500 extensions per unit, plus one spare.
We always recommend one more appliance than you need, so a backup is ready to step in. Running 3,000 extensions? That's three units.
Straightforward, like everything else.
The appliance is in addition to your regular per-extension service. After the first year, a failed unit is replaced at 40% off the current appliance fee.
How the appliance is provided.
The appliance carries our software and a copy of your data, so it is a managed appliance that we own and run at your site, rather than hardware we sell outright. Here is what that means. The full wording is in our terms and conditions.
Your data on the appliance stays at your site and on our own systems in the United States. It is stored only in the US, and we never share or sell it. Our own systems never move it outside the US; one of the outside providers behind our AI voice features may process audio outside the US for support and safety review.
- It is a managed appliance. It belongs to Cannon VoIP for as long as our software is on it, and the software on it is ours, licensed for your use and not sold.
- It must stay powered on and online for as long as you have service, so it stays in step with our cloud and receives updates.
- If a unit fails within the first year, we replace it. After that, send the failed unit back and get a replacement at 40% off the current appliance fee. You pay shipping to us; we pay to ship it back to you.
- After 10 years, or if a unit fails, a replacement unit is needed to keep using the on-site service.
- When service ends, we remove all users and data. The appliance then stays online for 14 more days so we can wipe our software from it, or you ship it to us within 7 days and we wipe it there.
- If neither happens, the $1 option ends, the unit stays ours, and we recover it at your cost. Paying a fee instead of returning it is not an option.
- Once our software has been removed, you can buy the hardware for $1 and keep it.
- No copying, moving or reverse-engineering the software, and no reselling the unit while our software is on it.
Questions
What is the VoIP-HYBRID-1?
An optional on-site server appliance for Cannon VoIP customers, usually organizations with 500 or more extensions. It runs your phone system at your location as well as in our cloud, so calling and nearly everything else keeps working on site even if the connection to our cloud is lost.
What stops working if the appliance loses its connection to the Cannon VoIP cloud?
Only AI processing, such as transcripts, call summaries, the AI receptionist, screening transcription and translation. Calls, including 911 and outside calls, extension-to-extension calling, the apps and web app, paging, team chat, video meetings and the CRM keep working. AI features pick up again as soon as the connection is back.
What happens if an appliance fails?
Desk phones, the apps and the web app fail over to our cloud immediately, so people keep working. That is also why we always recommend one more appliance than you need, so a spare is ready to take over.
How many appliances do I need?
Each unit handles up to 2,500 extensions, and we always recommend one extra as a backup. Up to 2,500 extensions: 2 units. Up to 5,000: 3 units. Up to 7,500: 4 units.
How much does it cost?
Each appliance is a $2,650 appliance fee, refundable if you return it unused within 7 days of delivery. Installation is $850 and covers the first year on our platform. Starting in year two, it is $850 per appliance per year to keep it on our platform. The yearly fee is non-refundable. Each unit has a one-year warranty and a 10-year service life. After the warranty, a failed unit is replaced at 40% off the current appliance fee.
Do I own the appliance?
It is a managed appliance: Cannon VoIP owns it while our software is on it. When service ends and our software has been removed, you can buy the hardware for $1 and keep it.
Where is my data?
A copy of your data is kept on the appliance at your site, as well as on our own systems in the United States. It is stored only in the US, and we never share or sell it. Our own systems never move it outside the US; one of the outside providers behind our AI voice features may process audio outside the US for support and safety review.
