Cannon VoIP eFax: Send and Receive Faxes From Your Inbox or Browser

No fax machine, no phone line, no drivers.

Cannon VoIPJuly 234 min read

Cannon VoIP eFax lets you send and receive faxes from your email inbox or your browser at voip.cannonvoip.com. Everything below reflects the current eFax platform.

Sending a fax by email

1
Compose a new email
Address it to the fax number followed by @efax.cannonvoip.com. To fax (817) 973-1575, send to 8179731575@efax.cannonvoip.com. The number format is forgiving — 817-973-1575, 1-817-973-1575, +18179731575, and 817.973.1575 all work.
2
Attach your document(s)
Supported: PDF, Word (.doc/.docx), Excel (.xls/.xlsx), PowerPoint (.ppt/.pptx), PNG, JPEG, TIFF, plus text and RTF files — up to 30 MB per fax. Multiple attachments are automatically combined into a single fax, in the order they're attached.
3
Hit send
That's it — your email is processed and delivered as a fax.

Who can send: only email addresses your administrator has authorized. You can allow individual addresses (jane@yourcompany.com) or your whole company domain (@yourcompany.com) in one click, so everyone at your office can fax without any per-person setup. Email signatures and inline logos are automatically filtered out, so they won't show up as extra fax pages.

Cover pages, with your own notes

Put the word "cover" anywhere in the subject line and we'll prepend a professional cover page showing the sender, destination number, date and time, page count, and your subject line.

Anything you type in the body of the email appears on the cover page in a Notes section — perfect for "Attn: Billing, please process by Friday." Your email signature is automatically left off, so only your message makes the page. No "cover" in the subject? Only your attachments get transmitted; the body is never faxed.

Know your fax arrived, every time

You get an email at each step:

Queued
We received your email and your fax is on its way — includes page count and destination.
Delivered
Confirmation the receiving machine accepted it.
Failed
A plain-English explanation (line busy, no answer, invalid number, etc.) so you know whether to retry.

If something's wrong with your email itself — an unsupported file, no attachment, an unauthorized sending address — you get an immediate reply explaining exactly what to fix. Nothing disappears into the void.

Receiving faxes

Faxes sent to your number arrive as PDF attachments in your email within moments. Each fax number can deliver to multiple email addresses — the whole billing team can get every fax, no forwarding rules needed. Every received fax is also stored in your portal.

The customer portal

Log in at voip.cannonvoip.com to do everything below from your browser.

Send from your browser
Drag and drop files (same formats as email), add an optional cover page with notes, and go.
A full year of history
Every sent and received fax, with live status, page counts, timestamps, and the reason for any failure.
Download any fax as a PDF
Inbound or outbound, any time within 12 months.
Manage your settings
Who's allowed to send from your number, where received faxes get delivered, cover-page preferences.
Manage your team
Invite coworkers by email, they set their own password. Admins control who can change settings. Password resets are self-service.
Developer API
Create API keys and send faxes or pull history programmatically. Full docs at voip.cannonvoip.com/api-docs — great for integrating faxing into your EHR, CRM, or billing system.

Free fax test line

Not sure your fax machine works? Send any document to our free test line at (817) 973-1575 and watch it appear at voip.cannonvoip.com/test within a minute or two — no signup, no login. Since the page is public, avoid faxing anything sensitive; faxes on the test page expire automatically after 4 hours, and you can request removal of any fax shown there.

Good to know

  • Attachments: 30 MB per fax; incoming email is capped at 25 MB total (larger emails bounce at the mail level).
  • History and stored PDFs are retained for 12 months, then purged automatically.

This system keeps everything digital, organized, and easy to manage — no fax machine required.
