Cannon VoIP vs. Ooma

Ooma Office is a budget-priced small-business phone service with three tiers and honest month-to-month billing. Cannon VoIP is one flat rate with everything on it. The differences live in the tier ladder and the caps.

5-user scenario: what you'd actually pay per month

Cannon VoIP
$170/month
5 extensions × $34, all-in. No regulatory fee, no E911 fee, no support-tier fee: unlimited domestic calling and texting, AI call/voicemail transcription, and CRM integration all included, with a main number plus a direct number for every extension (6 numbers) in the price.
Ooma
~$180–195/month
Matching what $34 includes means the top tier, Pro Plus, since call queues, CRM integrations, and AI transcripts all live there: 5 × $29.95 = $149.75 list. Ooma bills taxes, regulatory recovery, and E911 fees on top, charges that typically add 20–30% to US VoIP invoices at average usage, putting the real total around $180–195/month. And even then parity is not quite available at any price: texting caps at 1,000 messages per month for the entire account (250/month on Pro), where Cannon's texting is unlimited on every extension.

Pricing & contract

Essentials $19.95, Pro $24.95, Pro Plus $29.95/user/month, billed month to month with no annual contract; taxes and regulatory fees are added on top of advertised rates.
Add-ons & hidden fees

Taxes and regulatory fees on every invoice. Texting is capped account-wide (250 messages/month on Pro, 1,000 on Pro Plus), and the desktop app itself requires Pro or higher.
Contract lock-in & termination fee
None: month-to-month. Leave anytime with no early termination fee.
Month to month, like us. Credit where due: no contract on either side of this table.
What's included
Call transcription and SMS included on every extension, every tier. Queues, auto attendants, voicemail transcription, recording: included.
Tier-gated. Essentials has no desktop app and no texting; call recording starts at Pro; call queues, CRM integrations, HIPAA mode, and AI transcripts require Pro Plus.

Standard vendor support channels by phone and chat.
Integrations
Microsoft Teams, Google Workspace, plus 11 CRM integrations included: Zoho, HubSpot, Salesforce, Dynamics 365, GoHighLevel, Zendesk, Freshdesk, SugarCRM, Odoo, Housecall Pro, CallRail.
CRM integrations are gated to the Pro Plus tier; the catalog is smaller than the big UCaaS platforms.
International calling
$0.25/min to common countries, $1.75/min to less-common countries, rare/high-cost destinations quoted separately.
Unlimited calling includes Canada, Mexico, and Puerto Rico, a genuine plus; other international destinations bill per minute.
Hardware & BYOD
Bring your own desk phone if it's on our compatibility list, or get our VoIP-6 ($198) or an ATA adapter ($99). We never rent or lease equipment: it's yours to keep, purchased outright.
Sells its own IP phones and analog-friendly hardware outright, and supports a limited BYOD list.

Bottom line: Ooma's sticker prices are lower and its month-to-month terms are honest, which is more than most of this industry manages. The catch is the ladder: the features most businesses actually run, queues, CRM logging, transcripts, texting at real volume, live on the top tier with account-wide caps and fees stacked on top. If you would land on Pro Plus anyway, compare that all-in number against one flat rate that never caps your texting.
