Cannon VoIP vs. Webex

Cisco Webex Calling is Cisco's own cloud phone system, sold online as Webex Call ($17/user/month) or Webex Suite ($25) and through Cisco partners and carriers. Queues, recording, texting, website chat and a dialer sit on Enterprise, partner-only licenses or Webex Contact Center, so matching what our $34 includes runs about $635 to $815 a month for 5 users.

The short version
With Cannon VoIP$170 a month for 5 users, all-in, with unlimited texting, a CRM and a power dialer included.
With WebexAbout $635 to $815 a month plus taxes and fees for the same setup, with queues, chat and the dialer in a separate Webex Contact Center product and no built-in CRM.
Feature check

Do we have more features than Webex?

For most small businesses, yes: every $34 extension includes call queues, call recording, texting, website chat, a power dialer and a CRM. On Webex that means Enterprise or partner licenses plus Webex Contact Center agents, about $635 to $815 a month for 5 users, and still no built-in CRM. Webex is ahead on meeting size, video room hardware and security certifications, and its seats cost less if you only need calling and meetings.

Included with us, not with Webex
  • Built-in CRM. No built-in CRM is listed on Webex's site; CRM connectors are listed for Webex Contact Center Premium agents.
  • Queues and call recording on every seat. Webex's online plan table lists call queues, call recording and barge only on Webex Enterprise.
  • Business texting. Webex Business Texting is an add-on bought through a partner, and online customers are not eligible.
  • Website chat. Webex offers chat through Webex Contact Center, listed from $85 per named agent a month.
  • Spoken call screening. Webex labels likely spam and offers CAPTCHA screening through a separate Mutare subscription; spoken name and reason screening is not listed on Webex's site.
  • Power dialer. Webex lists its dialer in Webex Contact Center, not in Webex Calling plans.
What Webex has that we don't
  • Bigger meetings. Webex Suite hosts 200 attendees for up to 24 hours, and Enterprise goes to 1,000.
  • Video room hardware. Cisco Room, Board and Desk Series video devices work with Webex Calling.
  • Security certifications. Webex Calling holds ISO 27001 and SOC 2 Type 2, and Webex for Government is FedRAMP Moderate authorized; we do not claim these yet.
  • AI help during calls. Webex's AI Assistant gives live call summaries and action items, and Caller Intent shows the likely reason for a call before you answer.
  • Omnichannel contact center. Webex Contact Center adds SMS, WhatsApp and Facebook Messenger channels as a separate product.
  • Lower price for calling-only seats. Webex Call is $17 per user month to month, or $15.30 billed annually, and Webex Suite adds meetings for $25. Both cost less than $34 if you do not need queues, recording, texting or chat.

Both build their own system. Webex sells it in pieces.

Cisco builds and runs Webex Calling, as we build and run ours. These are included with every Cannon VoIP extension, while Webex puts them on a higher tier, a partner-only license or a separate product:

  • Call queues and call recording. Webex's online plan table lists them only on Webex Enterprise, which is priced through sales.
  • Business texting. Business Texting is an add-on bought through a partner, and online customers are not eligible.
  • Built-in CRM. No built-in CRM is listed on Webex's site.
  • Website chat. Chat is a Webex Contact Center channel, listed from $85 per named agent.
  • Supervisor dashboards. Live agent and queue statistics need a Customer Assist license sold through Cisco's Flex plan.

5-user scenario: what you'd actually pay per month

Cannon VoIP
$170/month
5 extensions × $34, all-in. No regulatory fee, no E911 fee, no support-tier fee: unlimited domestic calling and texting, AI call/voicemail transcription, and CRM integration all included, with a main number plus a direct number for every extension (6 numbers) in the price.
Webex
~$635 to $815/month plus taxes and fees
Webex Suite ($25/user) covers calling, a number per user and meetings, but not queues, recording or barge, and Webex lists website chat and a dialer only in Webex Contact Center, sold through sales on a 12-month or longer term. Five Suite seats ($125), four Standard agents at $85 and one Premium supervisor at $130 a month, plus the $8/user Webex Calling integration, come to about $635; making all five Premium, which adds SMS and CRM connectors for everyone, is about $815. E911 fees, the federal USF and state and local telecom taxes are added by location. Credit where due: if you only need calling and meetings, Webex Suite alone is $125 a month.

Moving from Webex is built in

Cannon VoIP has migration tools in the portal, and our team guides the move for free:

  • How your setup comes across. Universal import: paste or upload an export or spreadsheet of your extensions, names, emails and desk phones, or hand our migration kit to an AI assistant to fill in from your old Webex exports.
  • Keep what your callers hear. Optional discovery calls ring your old system and record what its menus say, so the wording, or the original recordings, can come across.
  • Nothing changes until you approve it. Review a plan with counts before anything is applied; an import report lists anything that could not come across.
  • No gap in service. Your Webex service keeps taking calls until your numbers port, at $15 per line, usually the next business day.
Cannon VoIP
Webex
Pricing & contract
$34/extension/month flat, all-in: unlimited domestic calling and texting included. No long-term contract: month to month.
Webex Call is $17/user/month billed monthly or $15.30 billed annually. Webex Suite (Meet + Call) is $25 monthly or $22.50 annually. Webex Contact Center, where Webex lists chat and a dialer, is $85 (Standard) or $130 (Premium) per named agent a month through sales, plus $8/user for the Webex Calling integration. Enterprise, Customer Assist and Business Texting prices are not listed on Webex's site.
Add-ons & hidden fees
No hidden fees. Core features are included in one flat rate per extension: no regulatory surcharge, no E911 fee, no core-feature upcharges. Optional add-ons are priced up front: AI receptionist $65/month, or free with 10 or more users; Branded Calling + RCS $45 one-time setup, then $40/month per block of 25 extensions; and cloud eFax.
Webex invoices add taxes and fees on top of the plan price. Cisco's calling plan bills itemize E911 fees per phone number, the federal Universal Service Fund and state and local telecom taxes, which vary by location; Cisco does not publish the amounts. Partner customers also pay a daily charge for each phone number, and a CDW quote lists $43 for each 911 call sent to Cisco's emergency relay center. Porting is free, and international calls are billed after use.
Contract lock-in & termination fee
None: month-to-month. Leave anytime with no early termination fee.
Online plans auto-renew monthly or annually. You can cancel any time; the plan runs to the end of the paid period, then drops to Webex Free. Contact Center and partner licenses run on terms of 12 months or more, and committed agents can be added but not reduced mid-term. Partners and carriers set their own prices and terms.
What's included
Call transcription and SMS included on every extension, every tier. Queues, auto attendants, voicemail transcription, recording: included.
Webex Call covers calling, auto attendant, extensions, visual voicemail and unlimited domestic calling. Suite adds the AI Assistant and 24-hour, 200-person meetings. Call queues, call recording, barge, paging and voicemail to email are listed only on Enterprise.
Setup & onboarding
We handle every step of onboarding and set your team up for success, then call us anytime during business hours to add, change, or fine-tune any feature, big or small. Businesses within about an hour and a half of DFW Airport get free on-site installation.
Self-serve signup online, with new numbers ready at purchase and number ports taking at least 21 days. Customer Assist, business texting and larger rollouts go through Cisco partners.
Customer support & reliability
Live technicians 24/7/365 for anything urgent, at our Fort Worth office. Full support team weekdays, 9 to 5 Central. No ticket queue, no support tier to unlock. Businesses within about an hour and a half of DFW Airport can get on-site emergency service (billed separately; contact us for rates).
Online plans list help center, chat, phone and case form support; Enterprise adds dedicated representatives. Customers who buy through a carrier get that carrier's support (Verizon lists 24/7 phone and web chat).
Integrations
Microsoft Teams, Google Workspace, plus 11 CRM integrations included: Zoho, HubSpot, Salesforce, Dynamics 365, GoHighLevel, Zendesk, Freshdesk, SugarCRM, Odoo, Housecall Pro, CallRail. Contacts sync every six hours or on demand and name callers in screen pops; finished calls log automatically into HubSpot, Zoho and GoHighLevel.
Microsoft Teams calling integration, Microsoft and Google productivity tools, and more than 200 integrations, bots and apps. The Salesforce call widget dials by opening the Webex Calling app.
Built-in CRM
Included: people, deals and pipelines, website forms, automation, email sequences, service desk and appointments with a public booking page.
No built-in CRM listed on Webex's site. CRM connectors are listed for Webex Contact Center Premium agents.
International calling
$0.25/min to common countries, $1.75/min to less-common countries, rare/high-cost destinations quoted separately.
International calls are billed per minute on every plan, from Cisco's posted Calling Plans rate sheet for calls from the United States.
Meetings & messaging
Built in: video meetings with a permanent room link and dial-in from any phone, team chat channels and direct messages, and a website chat bubble your staff answer from the portal or the Android and iPhone apps. Plus a live AI interpreter on any call (dial *84 or tap Translate) that translates both sides, and long-press translation for text messages.
Webex Suite includes meetings up to 24 hours with 200 attendees, 10 GB of cloud recording and team chat; Enterprise goes to 1,000 attendees. The Webex Call plan alone caps meetings at 40 minutes. Website chat is a Webex Contact Center channel.
Contact center tools
A wallboard with live queue stats, where supervisors can listen, whisper or barge into live calls, plus a power dialer for outbound campaigns that only calls between 8am and 9pm in the lead's local time.
Online plans list call queues and barge only on Enterprise. Partner-sold Webex Calling includes queues with skill-based routing; supervisor dashboards need Customer Assist. Webex Contact Center, with chat and a dialer, is a separate product at $85 to $130 per named agent a month, and supervisors need the $130 Premium agent.
Call screening & 911
Call screening shows each caller's name and reason word for word as they speak, before you answer, and AI screening rules send calls you never want to voicemail without ringing. A 911 address is registered on each number and checked with 911 systems, each building can be a 911 site, 911 calls from the mobile app send the phone's location, and people you choose are alerted when anyone dials 911.
Calls are labeled Verified, Possible Spam or Potential Fraud using STIR/SHAKEN, and admins can block failed calls. CAPTCHA screening needs a separate Mutare subscription. Spoken name and reason screening is not listed on Webex's site. App users enter their 911 address when off-site.
Connect your own AI assistant
Connect Claude, ChatGPT, Gemini or any Model Context Protocol (MCP) assistant, choose which areas it can reach, and high-risk actions wait for a person to approve them.
Webex publishes MCP servers, including a beta Webex Suite server with call control, call search and call insights tools that an admin enables in Control Hub. REST APIs are also available; the online plan table lists developer tools on Enterprise.
Platform ownership
We wrote our own phone software and apps, and we run our own servers and switching from an undisclosed location in Fort Worth, with two backup regions; customer data is stored only in the US and is never shared or sold; only three outside companies for voice and texting; most feature requests ship in under four weeks.
Built and run by Cisco. Cisco bought BroadSoft, maker of BroadWorks, in 2018, and the online Call plan is billed by BroadSoft Adaption LLC. Carriers such as Verizon also sell Webex Calling under their own offers.
Hardware & BYOD
Bring your own desk phone if it's on our compatibility list, or get our VoIP-6 ($198, with 10% off at 25 phones and 15% off at 75) or an ATA adapter ($99). Most other standard SIP phones can connect with basic SIP credentials, without the portal's remote management. We never rent or lease equipment: phones and adapters are yours to keep, purchased outright.
Cisco IP and desk phones, DECT and Wi-Fi handsets, and Room, Board and Desk Series video devices. Some Poly, Yealink and other third-party phones work with standard features only. Cisco has also offered devices by subscription with a 36-month minimum.

Bottom line: Five users cost $170 a month at Cannon VoIP, all-in, with queues, recording, texting, website chat and a CRM. Matching that on Webex takes calling and meetings seats plus Webex Contact Center agents, about $635 to $815 a month plus taxes and fees, and there is still no built-in CRM. Webex Suite alone is $125 a month if you only need calling, meetings and AI summaries. Both companies build their own platform, and Webex is the stronger pick for big meetings, video rooms and government certifications.
